ABOUT

Company History

William and Marilyn King started raising and processing chickens by hand in the barnyard in 1983. They continued raising chickens and started using a local poultry processor throughout the eighties not happy with the quality they were getting there they purchased a automatic picker and fixed up the old milk house in the barn to process there own birds again. Till 1994 they had been blessed with five boys and thought they would be happier if kept busy. So they decided to build a small plant and start doing custom poultry processing with the idea to keep the boys busy slaughtering birds during the summer then send the boys to school in the fall. Good idea? So in June of 1994 King And Sons Poultry Services started custom poultry slaughter. That fall the boys went to school and William and Marilyn still processed chickens!! They soon realized there were more chickens to slaughter than they had imagined. The next year the boys were home schooled so they could help with the chickens.

ABOUT US

LEVI KING - PARTNER

Levi along with his wife Jacqueline, and children Michael, Miah, Molly, and Mathew live outside Greenville and raises upwards of 50,000 chickens each year for King’s Poultry Farm. Levi believes processing is the key to a quality poultry product, but it sure doesn’t hurt to offer great flock management and care to his chickens. In addition to his chickens, the Kings raise sheep.

When not tending chickens and sheep Levi works full time at King and Sons Poultry Services, the processing plant he co-owns with his brother Reuben. Levi oversees the written food safety plans, financial operations, and marketing for King’s Poultry Farm. King and Sons Poultry Services processes all of the chickens for King’s Poultry Farm, in addition to chickens for two hundred other farms in the region.

“I enjoy creating efficient processes that save time and resources for both the business and the farm”, says Levi, who has long been an advocate of efficiency wherever possible. In addition to his farm and processing duties, Levi has previously served as President and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Association of Meat Processors.

As Levis children grow older he looks forward to spending more time with them in the outdoors and showing them the ins and outs of farming and processing, if that’s what they want to do. Levi and Jacquline enjoy traveling to new places together and experiencing new things.

REUBEN KING - PARTNER

Reuben lives outside of Greenville with his wife Ivy, and children Jess, Tucker, and Bailey. He and his family raise around over 100,000 chickens each year for King’s Poultry Farm. Reuben takes great pride in flock management where he tracks baby chicks, growth, feed, and transport for chickens of King’s Poultry Farm. In addition to his chickens, their farm raises Dexter Cows and a variety of other animals.

While working at King and Sons Poultry Services, the processing plant he co-owns with his brother Levi, Reuben keeps busy overseeing the maintenance of the equipment and building and supervising the processing floor. Reuben maintains more than thirty unique pieces of equipment for chickens to be processed effectively.

“My favorite part about my job is being able to raise day old chicks into full grown birds and produce finished wholesome chicken products for our customers!”, says Reuben, who also enjoys trying new recipes and flavors to see what those customers might like.

Reuben serves as a Captain for the Gettysburg Rural Fire Department and enjoys attending continuing education courses to become a better firefighter. Reuben and Ivy keep busy by taking on too many home improvement projects and keeping their kids busy and educated on both on farm and off farm activities.
